Abstract

Childhood overweight continues to increase in prevalence in the United States. Television viewing habits, food portion sizes, parent-child feeding relations, and vending machine snack prices and availability may promote overweight in children to varying degrees. This article reviews data pertaining to these 4 environmental considerations, as well as practical strategies that caregivers might use for their management.
